Dear Peace North Members: I, Ken Driessen, de facto Peace North Web Site Administrator, received the following email: I, Mike McKee on behalf of http://www.couragetoresist.org/ am contacting you because I am organizing a speaking tour for Courage to Resist, the Bradley Manning campaign, and their new book on military resisters and soldiers who have refused to fight in Iraq and Afghanistan. Called About Face: Military Resisters Turn Against War, the book collects stories from and interviews with resisters, as well as two new interviews with Noam Chomsky and Daniel Ellsberg. The book was published September 1st 2011, by PM Press , and covers GI resistance from the Vietnam War to Bradley Manning and the current WikiLeaks revelations. Bradley Manning is currently set to be court marshaled later this spring. We're looking for groups to host a talk with Courage to Resist director Jeff Paterson. These talks could be at a church, a bookstore, a community center, or someone's home. While we'll ask for donations at the event, we're not looking for payment, we just want to talk to people interested in the Bradley Manning/Wikileaks campaign and in war resisters. We intend to promote each appearance through our extensive network of anti-war and veterans groups, as well as with outreach to local media.Through further correspondence they will have a closer approximation to when they will be traveling through the area within the week. I motion that we accept Jeff Paterson's offer to speak to us and decide on a location which to host this talk and presentation together as an organization. We have not met as Peace North for quite some time. If someone else would like to motion that we use the date we schedule for the talk gathering also as a short Peace North organizational meeting, I would second that. Please respond to this email to express interest in attending and suggestions as to a location for this event.

Thank you, people of occupywallstreet.org; for peacefully bringing the war to where the headquarters of war profiteering are. The elite that bought our government do not want to pay taxes, but they are happy to take our tax dollars through no bid government contracts. We need an agenda and real demands. 1.) Sever the agreement the government made with the international banksters called the Federal Reserve; print United States dollars based on the collective wealth and assets of the nation. 2.) Investigate 9/11/01 and bring the war profiteers, so obviously guilty of crimes against nation and humanity to justice. 3.) Force all officials who so obviously violate the constitution on a routine daily business as usual basis out of office including, Obama and a majority of the administration, John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan, war profiteer Daine Feinstein, the majority of the house and Senate, most of the Supreme Court. They so obvoisly bow to the bull of the Wall Street Mammon god and are treasonous to nation and humanity. 4.) After the treasonous criminals are out we must organize a constitutional convention so war profiteering and manipulation of our monetary system to enslave us rather than money being a legitimate means of exchange of goods and services can never occur again. 5.) 2012 vote in people that believe in Direct Participatory Democracy so the people can vote directly on law and appropriations, see http://whatisdemocracy.org and http://wis7thdpd.org No matter what their religious views are, we need leaders that believe that treating others as you wish to be treated, the least among us are our masters and love your enemies is a way of life. 6.) Is 10 Years of War Profiteering Enough?

There comes a time when pacivism is not a logical rational path to peace. Many good people believed that Obama and the democrats would bring peace. They said that we should not demand a truly independent 9/11 investigation. They said that we should heal as a nation and it would not be 'healing' if we demanded that perpetrators of war and war profiteers, who conducted torture of prisoners, crimes against humanity and voided our US constitution be brought to justice. To continue to act as stupefied pacifists at this time knowing what we now know makes us as accomplices. In Toronto Canada from September 8 thru September 11th 2011 what is to be known as the Toronto Hearings at Ryerson University, will aim to show that the U.S. government’s official narrative of the 9/11 attacks is flawed or false, a spokesman says. The movie I had here was flagged on youtube as too graphic, if you think we are free guess again; to show the evil and carnage of war is forbidden, to profit from war brings you closer to the god of the Synagouge of Satan! I replaced the banned video with one of the greatest speaches ever made, enjoy... March 19, 2011 will be 8 years since our criminal government invaded Iraq under fasle pretenses. I recorded this song "Daddy War Bucks" back in 2007 500 billion dollars and thousands of innocent civilan deaths ago. I can hear the brain washed tea sheeple responding to this already. "They attacked us on 9/11", duh, they are the Mussad, not Saddam who they sold the poison gas and all sorts of weapons to as Rumsfeld was smiling shaking Saddam's hand. "If you hate America so much why don't you leave", I love America, it is the war profiteering infinitely greedy that call stupid people that say such things goy that hate America. It is the spawn that outsourced our jobs to maximize their lazy ass weasel profits that hate America, not me. We, true Americans are good kind loving people. Why are we ruled by such dysfunctional, sadistic, pathological wasted sperm? We must join together and get the war profiteering sociopaths out of power and confiscate the wealth they got from their crimes against humanity and put them in prison where they belong. Supreme Court Justices Suck Koch

The Supreme Court's 5-4 ruling in the Citizens United case last year did untold damage to our democracy. It overturned decades of settled case law, ended the ban on corporate and union political spending and fueled a surge of nearly $300 million from corporations and "independent" groups into the 2010 midterms.

Worst of all, it made it even harder for average citizens to have a voice in elections, and nearly impossible for politicians to be free of special interest influence.

But new evidence has come to light that two Justices -- Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas -- may have had a conflict of interest in the Citizens United case. Because their impartiality has come into question, we are asking the Justice Department to launch an immediate investigation.

It appears Justices Scalia and Thomas have been featured guests at secretive political strategy sessions sponsored by Koch Industries, the second largest privately held company in the U.S.* Koch Industries was a major beneficiary of the Citizens United decision, using the ruling to expand its multi-million dollar investment in political campaigns and causes.

Other guests at the private Koch meetings have included corporate leaders and conservative commentators. Because the Koch meetings are held in secret, we don't know the exact nature of the Justices' role. But just the presence of Justices Scalia and Thomas at such an event creates a troubling appearance of bias, and Common Cause believes it should have led the Justices to disqualify or recuse themselves from participation in the Citizens United case.

Please join us in calling on the Justice Department to investigate. If evidence is found that would have disqualified either Justice from ruling on this matter, we will be pressing for the Citizens United ruling to be vacated.

Tomorrow marks the one-year anniversary of the Citizens United decision. There is no better time to help undo the damage wrought by this wrong-headed ruling than now.

After a 10 am rally in Lafeyette Park featuring Daniel Ellsberg of Pentagon Papers fame, retired CIA officer Ray McGovern, Dr. Margaret Flowers of Physicians for a National Health Program, and others, activists formed a solemn single-file process to the White House, silent except for a drum beat. There, they encountered police barricades. Some veterans began climbing over the barricades, until the police opened them up, allowing people to approach the fence in front of the White House.

As the light snow increased to heavy and began accumulating, activists kept warm by singing and chanting. At about 12:30, police began arresting protesters who remained along the fence, while supporters who did not want to risk arrest were moved across the broad street. Some of the demonstrators stood in the snow and freezing temperatures for nearly four hours before being taken to Anacostia processing center and released. They have all since been released. Some have elected to pay a fine, while others, including Ellsberg and McGovern, will go to trial on the charge of disobeying a lawful order.

Wikileaks has obtained and decrypted this previously unreleased video footage from a US Apache helicopter in 2007. It shows Reuters journalist Namir Noor-Eldeen, driver Saeed Chmagh, and several others as the Apache shoots and kills them in a public square in Eastern Baghdad. They are apparently assumed to be insurgents. After the initial shooting, an unarmed group of adults and children in a minivan arrives on the scene and attempts to transport the wounded. They are fired upon as well. The official statement on this incident initially listed all adults as insurgents and claimed the US military did not know how the deaths occurred. It looks like 10's of thousands showed up on the Capital Mall in Washington DC for the October 2, 2010 rally. Many more people gathered closer to home in solidarity with the One Nation Working Together Washington DC Rally as well.

In Hayward Wisconsin, 15 or so peace loving people gathered on the corner from 12 noon to 1 pm with our signs and smiles. We then met for a short causual meeting and coffee. Several PeaceNorth members expressed interest in planning an event inviting a speaker, maybe Michelle from Duluth who is one of the organizers of the Duluth-Rania Iraq Sister City Friendship Exchange Project and has been to Iraq several times. Some of us decided that we will gather and vigil for peace on the corner of Hwy 63 and 27 South ever Saturday from 12 noon to 1 pm until the November 2, midterm election in a "Vote For Peace" effort. If enough people can make it next Saturday, september 9th, we will have a formal PeaceNorth meeting a 1 pm to discuss the business of peace and the future of our Organization. Also Dave Emsh our Veterans For Peace Local 153 chair has schedualed a meeting on Veteran's Day November, 11, 2010 to be held at the Seeley Sawmill Saloon.
